IT IMPROVES SUPPLY CHAIN PERFORMANCE OF SUGAR INDUSTRY: A REGRESSION METHOD APPROACH

Supply chain performance of a particular type of supply chain can be determined using certain key performance indicators of that industry. The performance indicators were identified on the basis of survey and discussion with the top management of sugar mills in India. This paper aims to improve the supply chain performance of sugar industry with the implementation of IT applications by managing various identified issues at procurement and sugar production level. The issues were identified on the basis of literature review and expert panel. The field survey was conducted for checking the relevance of the issues at five-point likert scale. Around 30 sugar mills in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, India were visited to collect 120 responses from the mill managers in an unstructured way. The study reveals that the role of IT at procurement and sugar production level, which will help in improving the supply chain performance of sugar industry in India.
