Sustainable agriculture in the 21st century will rely increasingly on alternative interventions for pest management that are environment-friendly. In tropical countries like India, insect pests are the major limiting factor in increasing crop productivity. Among the insects, the soil dwelling insects such as white grubs pose serious threat as they remain hidden in the soil; their damage is hard to predict in advance and once damage is caused, remediation becomes difficult.
