摘要

The nozzle session of the 2012 Propulsion Aerodynamic Workshop is summarized. An earlier published investigation of the flow through 15°, 25°, and 40° conical convergent conical nozzles was the basis for this exercise and is briefly explained. Participants were invited to analytically simulate the flow through and downstream of each nozzle, as well as to determine its discharge and velocity coefficients. For additional levels of difficulty, they were asked to simulate the effect of the splitter plate boundary layer on the shock formation in a supercritical jet and the regular vortex shedding from the base at the downstream end of the plate, both phenomena having been observed in the experimental work. Participants' results are summarized and shown, compared with the experimental data.
