In this paper, we present THRUST, a Time domain simulation approach with Lyapunov exponent metHod for RobUST stabihty analysis of power systems. THRUST uses Lyapunov exponents method (LEM) for predicting both short-term voltage and angular stability. THRUST offers a novel system stability metric, which evaluates the system stability by considering both the voltage and relative rotor angles together. Due to its algorithmic procedure, THRUST can be used without the need of any manual intervention and can be easily scaled to large systems. THRUST can use the time-series data obtained from phasor measurement unit (PMU) to compute Lyapunov exponents in an online manner. Experiments with a 39-bus system and a 13029-bus system demonstrate the effectiveness of THRUST in analyzing voltage and rotor angle system stability/instability along with individual bus/generator contribution to stability/instability.
