A load test of a decommissioned prestressed adjacent box girder was used to demonstrate a proof ofconcept for the OSMOS fiber optic-based instrumentation system for bridge monitoring. The girder behavior wasaccurately predicted using an approach demonstrated previously and thus a significant analytical and experimentalbasis for evaluating the instrumentation system was established. In all cases, the OSMOS system performed well andprovided robust and accurate data with which the girder behavior could be assessed.
