800’ Continuous Steel Girder Structure - Curved and fully joint-less

The structure was designed to be fully joint-less to eliminate typical deck jointswhich are costly to maintain and are a main cause of superstructure and substructuredeterioration. At a length of approximately 800 feet, this 4-span continuous steel girder bridgewill be the longest fully joint-less curved structure owned by NYSDOT when completed. Finiteelement modeling was used to determine the full range of thermal movements of the structuretaking into account thermal gradients.
