This project shows an approach for the characterisation of BIPV modules under outdoor conditions within a short measurement period. Each BIPVinstallation is specific in terms of module orientation and temperature conditions. Therefore two extreme installation conditions (1. forced ventilation, 2. thermalinsulation / no air circulation possible) and a free-standing installation as reference are chosen for this approach. This allows to have measurements in a broadrange of module temperature and irradiance in a short period of time (here mid-August until mid-September). The measurements can be analysed according tonumerous parameters in order to see not only temperature dependent characteristics but also the influence of the optical characteristics (absorption, reflection) orspectrum efficiency of the module under real outdoor conditions. The limits of the module’s thermal performance can be estimated.One I-V curve measurement provides the electrical characteristics, five irradiance parameters (reference cell in plane, global horizontal, direct, diffuse and global inplane), meteorological data (ambient temperature, wind speed and direction, rel. humidity) and spectrum irradiance values in 212 wavelength intervals (in thespectral range 350 – 1050nm). This poster shows a method that allows a relative comparison of the power characteristic maps of two different BIPV module types.The aim of this study is NOT an absolute evaluation of the modules performance but to develop methods which allows to characterise them far outside of STCconditions.The BIPV-CharM project is sponsored by the Luxembourgish electricity provider Sudstroum and co-financed by the Luxembourgish Ministry of Research.Public Research
