The European Photovoltaic Industry Association (EPIA) has reported that the global cumulative solarPV installations reached 100 GW by 2013. In order to determine the “bankability” of solar PV projects, theestimation of the energy yield [kWh] with high accuracy and precision is important. The National Institute ofAdvanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) has developed the database of the outdoor performance of eightkinds of PV arrays at AIST Kyushu Center. In this study, we evaluate the monthly energy outputs of the PV arrays,which are normalized to those of 5 [kW]. Seasonal variations and yearly changes of the energy outputs from the PVarrays are investigated in addition to normalized yearly energy production. The main results are that the normalizedyearly energy yield of E-1a (sc-Si) is about 3% higher than that of E-2a (pc-Si) in this measurement system. In orderto investigate in more detail, the energy production is divided into two conditions (under high and low irradianceconditions). The energy yield difference seems to be originated from the energy production under low irradianceconditions. The results suggest that the energy production from PV systems can vary by more than a few % due toirradiance dependence.
