ACCELERATION TEST OF COMBINED STRESSES FOR FLEXIBLE THIN FILM SI SOLAR MODULES

Fuji Electric established device and production technologies of large-area, light-weight flexible thinfilm Si solar cells and modules using 1m-wide and 3,000m long heat-resistant plastic film substrates. A uniquemonolithic device structure having through-hole contacts formed on the flexible plastic film and various roll-to-rollproduction technologies were developed and applied to production lines in our factory. The unique device structureenables us to cut and connect cells easily resulting in easy customizing voltage and current specifications of products.We have been focusing on high durability performance development with extreme caution and also been focusing ondeveloping effective acceleration tests. As we all know that 1,000h damp heat test defined in IEC61646 is not enoughfor confirmation of long term quality. Extension of test duration or addition of another stress should be applied to thedamp heat test. We developed an original acceleration test of "Damp heat and current injection test". It combinesdamp heat test and current injection (bias application) into the module. The acceleration test duplicates defects thatare observed in modules exposed outdoors.
