The authors developed a mesoscopic CO2 emission model to estimate the effect of ITS measures. It is necessary to consider driving behavior when calculating the reduction of CO2 emission of ITS measures. However, mesoscopic traffic simulation models cannot expressly process driving behavior. Three options to consider driving behavior change in a mesoscopic CO2 emission model were suggested. The accuracy of Option 3 (designed running pattern method) was validated using the result of field tests for a normal driving case and an Eco-driving case. The authors confirmed that the result of field tests and the result calculated by the mesoscopic CO2 emission model have similar trends. As an example, we calculated the CO2 reduction effect using our mesoscopic model in Kashiwa City, for cases in which Eco-driving and Eco-routing are popularized.
