This paper is a short Case study of USDOT-supported Connected Vehicle research and standards being deployed in Harris County (Houston) TX in the aftermath of Hurricane Ike to provide widespread evacuation travel time, advanced Emergency Vehicle priority for first responders and the elimination of shock hazard posed by downed traffic signals.
