The Aero-Thermo-Mechanics Department of ULB (Universite Libre de Bruxelles) is developing a device to pump and separate two-phase flows. This system can simultaneously perform the deoil-ing, deaeration and pumping functions of the scavenge part of aero-engine lubrication systems. In this paper, the deoiling efficiency of the pump and separation system is presented for different working conditions. It was measured with a new radio-traced oil consumption measurement system. These measurements are validated against bag filter measurements. Finally, conclusions will be given on the two measurement techniques and on the use of a pump and separation system in a lubrication system.
