This paper presents a quantitative method for mineralexploration combining of the three multi-class geologicalvariables aided by GIS spatial analysis techniques and statisticalanalysis. The process of constructing a mineral potential mapbased on extended weights-of-evidence modeling to investigatethe relation- ship between multi-class evidential map patternsand known gold deposits in the Wulonggou gold district ofQinghai Province. Finally, the study area was classified into threetarget zones of high potential areas, moderate potential areas andlow potential areas based on the sum of weights that avoid theaffect of conditional independence. The high potential areasoccupy 2.6% of the total area and contain 76.5% of the knowndeposits, reaching a better prediction rate.
