Mobile edge computing is a network architecture concept that enables cloud computing capabilities and an information technology service environment at the edge of the cellular network. Basic idea behind is that by running applications and performing related processing tasks closer to the users. Hence, network congestion can be reduced and applications can perform better service to users. In a typical mobile edge computing, virtual machines are allocated to physical machines. Analyzing the number of needed virtual machines and quality of service parameters are important for designing issues as well as cost of the systems. This paper presents an analytical model and analysis of clustered servers in mobile edge computing that can be used to obtain the expected quality of service parameters such as the mean queue length and the throughput. The proposed model considers an open queuing model for analysis. The exact Spectral expansion solution approach is used to obtain performance parameters for the proposed model. The obtained results show that the number of virtual machines is important to achieve the expected quality of service under different circumstances.
