For the efficient production of structural components made of fibre reinforced plastics (FRPs), numeric simulations become more and more important. For the validation of material models used for draping simulation of textile structures, the Institut fur Textiltechnik (ITA) of RWTH Aachen University has developed an experimental setup. With this experimental setup, also called Drapeability-Test, the drapeability of textile structures can be tested similar to the industrial draping process in a mould. The experimental results of the Drapeability-Test are the force-displacement data and the local deformation of the textile surface after draping. In the current paper this experimental setup is presented. It is shown that the results obtained with the Drapeability-Test 2 are reproducible for non-crimp fabrics.
