An application of the single - channel Polar Hough transform to the Track before Detect (PHT-TBD) technique is considered in this paper. Two variants of the PHT-TBD algorithm for radar target detection are developed, taking into account different track reconstruction approaches. We evaluated the conventional estimate of a position root-mean-square (RMS) error of tracking using the track parameters estimated in the Hough space and using the nearest-neighbor Extended Kalman Filter (EKF). Some aspects of the design and practical implementations of the PHT-based algorithms are discussed. The effectiveness of the Polar Hough transform to achieve the improved TBD performance is evaluated by Monte Carlo simulations.
