摘要

This paper presents various aspects of Radar Cross Section (RCS). Concepts like Basic Scattering chacterstics of target, scattering mechanism of RCS, RCS prediction methods, RCS measurement set up, techniques for reduction of RCS are discussed in detail. RCS dependence on frequency & polarization are explained with the help of MATLAB function and Scattering matrix. In scattering mechanism concepts like reflection, diffraction, surface waves and ducting are covered. In RCS prediction methods, different approximate methods like physical optics, microwave optics, method of moments, and finite difference methods are discussed. In RCS measurement setup, indoor chamber configuration, measurement procedure, different source of measurement errors are discussed. Dependence of aspect angle on RCS measurement is shown by using MATLAB function. In RCS reduction technique, shaping, materials & coating and cancellation techniques are covered.
