Automotive Production Location Cost Optimization with Productivity and Sustain ability Constraints

Especially the automotive industry is one of the most globally oriented in purchasing, production and distribution -therefore optimization and cost analysis instruments for the strategic production location question are in high demand within this industry. This contribution outlines how a standard cost minimization approach modelled in an GAMS LP setting can be enhanced by a productivity adjustment for less developed countries as well as a carbon tax regime simulation in order to understand the magnitude of potential political decisions regarding e.g. a carbon tax regime on automotive supply chains and location decisions.
