A simple and effective dry coating technique was applied to fabricate La_(0.8)Sr_(0.2)MnO_3 (LSM) cathode of SOFC. The specific surface area of the LSM used was 12.4 m~2/g with a corresponding diameter of about 80 nm. The LSM powder was coated with poly vinyl butyral (PVB) binder on a YSZ electrolyte substrate followed by firing at 1100°C for 2 h. Finally, the thick porous LSM cathode (~50 μm) consisting of fine grains ( < 0.5 μm) was obtained. The interfacial area specific resistance (ASR) of the cathode was measured as 0.49 Ωcm~2 at 800°C.
