In our work, we summarize recent results of investigations of composite-like materials consisting of nano-porous oxide layers loaded with Ag-nanoparticles: Ag/TiO_(2-n)/Ti and Ag/Al_2O_(3-n)/Al (where "n" stands for nanotubes), which exhibit new functionalities. Al_2O_3-and TiO_2-based materials appear to be SERS-active substrates and also bioactive materials. TiO_2-based materials are promising for medical applications. In both applications - SERS and bio - Ag nanoparticles play a crucial role.
