A wearable learning support system with a head-mounted display and a foot-mounted RFID reader

摘要

A wearable learning support system was developed for outdoor education and other outdoor activities. The system consisted of a wearable computer, a head-mounted see-through display, and a foot-mounted radio frequency identification tag reader. The system provides a user with location-aware information for outdoor learning and records positions of activities performed. When the user approached a plant, a description of the plant or helpful hints to investigate were shown in the head-mounted display. We used the developed system experimentally and found that the system was effective in acquiring location-aware information outdoors. We also found some problems that need to be investigated further.
