2R all-optical regenerator assessment at 10 Gbit/s over 94 km standard fiber using in-line dispersion-imbalanced loop mirror

We demonstrate that in-line dispersion-imbalanced loop mirror which consists of one segment of standard fiber and another segment of high-nonlinear dispersion shifted fiber, can achieve all-optical passive regeneration. Two fiber span transmission experiment at 10 Gbit/s with total fiber length of 94 km shows the receiver sensitivity is improved by using the 2R regenerator, and a wide input power range of the regenerator up to 10.5 dB is obtained.
