The Instant-Grid-CD combines the established Live-CD concept with the PXE network boot mechanism and an automated deployment of the Globus grid middleware to provide a pre-configured grid environment. The CD is enhanced by a GridSphere based web portal and ready-to-use demonstration applications. The possible use of these features, without any previous knowledge, broadens the audience of Instant-Grid to include uninitiated users with an interest to learn more about the possible benefits of grid technology. Furthermore by integrating several applications into Instant-Grid and by making these applications grid-ready this way, Instant-Grid has shown its ability of a testing and development platform.
