One-dimensional nanostructures such as zinc oxide nanowires are promising in different applications, such as in the development of gas sensors, varistors, ultraviolet lasers and solar cell components. Zinc oxide nanowires were grown on an anodized aluminum oxide substrate. We synthesize samples with different zinc electrodeposition times (5, 10, 15 and 20 minutes) and cook them in a dry air flow. The characterization of the synthesized samples was performed by Visible Ultraviolet Spectroscopy, X-ray Diffraction, Scanning Electron Microscopy and Raman Spectroscopy. The optical properties of the samples were slightly influenced by electrodeposition time, where optical band separation values were found to be in a range greater than 3.3 eV. The X-ray diffraction showed the formation of the hexagonal wurtzite crystal structure with crystallite size of about 27 nm and interplanar distance of about 2.46 nm.
