Metamaterial covers exhibit inimitable electromagnetic properties which make them popular in antenna Design. Important features of metamaterial covers are: increases the rate of transmission and control of the direction of the transmission which enable one to design directive antennas. In this paper, A new Stacked Three Layer Rectangular Microstrip Patch Antenna Using single Layer helical resonating Metamaterial Cover is presented. The Return loss, smith chart, impedance, radiation pattern, gain, VSWR and directivity of such an antenna are studied. The possibility of increasing bandwidth, gain and directivity of the printed patch antenna using metamaterial cover is examined. Also reduction in the size of helical resonator is investigated. Here we theoretically demonstrate that its outmost dimension can be reduced to below 1 % of the free space wavelength at resonance. Maximum Reduction in size is achieved at a metallic fill ratio of around 0.2.
