Prediction of the Fragment of Video Streamed to Mobile Phones Under a 5G Network Base Station

High moving speed of a mobile user brings great challenges to 5G networks, particularly when the user is watching a streaming-based video program. In a 5G network, how to reduce the delay and number of interruption when playing streaming video will be two engineering challenges since people may watch video programs on the way home or during their traveling. On the other hand, IoTs traffic will also be delivered through 5G networks. These network behaviors may congest a base station. To solve this problem, when a user enters the communication area of an eNodeB, we predict the fragment of a video program which will be played during his/her stay in the eNodeB. On receiving the fragment from video server, the eNodeB streams it to the user. This can avoid video playing interruption without occupying a large bandwidth of the base station.
