Serial movement is crucial for interacting with complex environments, and invasive brain-machine interfaces (BMIs) are currently being developed to restore motor function by decoding neural responses. However, coherent sequential movement decoding in complex behavior is still poorly understood. Although current closed-loop BMIs decoders enable subjects to drive equipment step by step to approach multiple targets and complete serial action, such a control strategy is inflexible and unnatural. Here, we propose an open-loop sequential decoding algorithm under a synchronized BMI framework to achieve high-performance sequential movement decoding, providing a potential solution for BMIs in complex movement reconstruction.
