In recent years, numerous design parameters have been considered to evaluate the performance of different routing protocols in VANETs. These parameters include end-to-end delay, packet delivery ratio and path duration. Path duration is one of the important design parameter for diverse environments. In this paper, we have proposed a probabilistical model for path duration estimation using highway mobility model for our Two-level Hierarchical routing protocol. Although, various analytical models have been exhibited for different protocols in VANETs, but a detailed model for VANETs is not available in literature. Specifically, the connectivity model for Highways and the urban areas has not been presented. Our proposed model has been validated by comparing analytical and experimental results obtained from MATLAB and ns-3.
