Here we utilize computational and experimental methods to study the utilization of a staggered herringbone mixer (SHM) on the enhancement of a surface plasmon resonance (SPR) biosensor. We show that the use of the SHM can have either beneficial or detrimental effects, depending on the value of the Peclet number.
