Discussion on Functions, Facilities and Location of a Retrofitted Safety Cabin in a Cargo Ship

Recently, rampant piracy has become a severe threat to the safety of worldwide marine transportation. Therefore, dealing with the impact of piracy on navigation safety has already become a major issue. First, we generally introduce the existing facilities and precautions of anti-piracy actions. Second, the situation of retrofitted safety cabins in cargo is discussed along with piracy examples. Finally, some improved opinions in ship building standards for anti-piracy are proposed, including the function, facility, and location selection of the retrofitted safety cabin.
