A novel design thrust vector μCAT (μCAT) with non-coaxial (magnetic coil axis and thruster axis) magnetic field distribution is presented. The system utilizes the mechanism of plasma guiding by a magnetic field, through non-coaxial magnetic coil to steer the plasma plume that results in a non-axial thrust vector. The preliminary experiments of 8 Langmuir probes are designed to measure the ion current spatial and temporal distribution with different magnetic field strength. It is found that the magnetic field could steer the plasma plume.
