It is with great pleasure that I personally welcome you to the 2018 AMSAT Space Symposium and AnnualMeeting. This is the 36th Symposium, reflecting a long tradition (started in the early 1980’s) to providean annual forum for amateur satellite enthusiasts to gather and share their ideas. AMSAT is proud ofthe technical content of the papers presented over the years reflecting the inventiveness of our volunteersand the significant contribution of presenters to “advancing the radio art.” The word amateurcomes from the Latin root “amare” meaning “to love”. So amateur radio literally means to love the radioart, and the Radio Amateur Satellite Corporation means the Corporation of the lovers of the radio artwith spacecraft.
