The Fox program was split into two paths early on, with the demise of AO-51 bringing about a challengeto get a replacement to orbit with similar capability and as soon as possible. Thus, Fox-1 became theproject for a simpler CubeSat than the overall Fox idea originally being worked, and that would befollowed by a future Fox-2 to fulfill the ideas being developed. Fox-1 quickly became a popular platformfor launch opportunities for a growing number of interested partners, resulting in all four planned Fox-1flight models being built in about a two-year span. Fox-1E was added to the family because of “populardemand”.
