SIMCO Technologies (SIMCO) was asked to perform a material concrete investigation on selectedbridge structures located in Northeastern United States. During this inspection, it was decided to benchmark aninnovative tool to optimize the management of concrete bridges exposed to aggressive environments, such asseawater and/or deicing salts. This new approach combines visual inspections, materials characterization anddurability modeling to obtain a complete assessment of the current condition of reinforced concrete structures,provide an accurate evaluation of their residual service-life, and, if necessary, select the most appropriate repairsolution.
