Some people who have tendency toward depression describe their inner thoughts vividly in their weblogs. Such descriptions are sometimes made consciously but at other times unconsciously by the authors. If such unconscious authors could become aware of their own symptom of the depression, that would contribute to early detection and treatment of the sickness. To achieve this, it is essential to find out the tendency of depression from the descriptions in weblog. Because the symptom of depression is not static, we attempted to detect the tendency of depression focusing on the temporal fluctuation of emotion of the authors. As many weblogs describe what happened or what the authors felt in daily life like a personal journal, we thought that weblogs were ideal for obtaining the time-varying emotion of the authors. In this paper, we proposed the method to detect the tendency of depression in weblog. Our method is based on the temporal fluctuation of emotion described by the authors.
