Access to data and information - a business between stakeholders and a democratic issue.

Data and information is a prerequisites for services within all areas, so even for ITS. Servicesneeded for travelers, industry and society and economic development in and betweencountries. In this context cooperation between stakeholders - public as well as commercial -is necessary to achieve a broad platform where data will be available. This make it possible togenerate new and attractive services covering all modes of transport, also as part in a widercommercial perspective - more purpose driven services. Public administrations are urged byseveral European Directives making “their” data and information available to generate newservices for individuals - especially the Public Sector Information directive with its newamendments. In this way new economic potentials will open up where many stakeholderscontribute, new service providers and where the travelers can achieve customized services. InSweden the governmental ITS Board promotes the cooperation between public and privatesector to open up their data and information for new services in a broad context. However thebusiness models for both public and private stakeholders are challenged.
