Our aging society will be accompanied by an increase in travel challenges facing the elderly, including use of urban transportation. In order to address this, this paper collects travel information of the elderly by issuing questionnaires in Jiaxing. Through this investigation, it makes a descriptive statistical analysis on travel mode choices of the elderly. Combined with the current situation of Jiaxing and the characteristics of the elderly group, the factors that affect travel mode choices of the elderly are determined. On the basis of these, a binomial logit model of travel mode choice is developed; the results show that gender, age, and occupation significantly influence travel mode choices. According to the analysis and study of the results, corresponding measures to optimize the travel of the elderly are proposed in Jiaxing.
