Corrosion behavior of magnesium alloys containing rear earth elements in blood under static and dynamic flow condition
The initial corrosion within the first 6 hours of the alloys investigated here revealed an increase of magnesium relase by a factor of 2-3 under dynamic compared to static flow condition. Speculation: During endothelial coverage e.g. of Mg stents in vivo a change of blood flow condition at the surface of the alloy will occur causing a change of corrosion mechanism probably associated with a reduction of ion release as simulated in this study.
