Irradiated Vitamin E-Containing UHMWPE: ESR with TSL Analyses

摘要

The additional peak at 180°C in the vitamin E-containing UHMWPE samples suggests that the peak is due to irradiated vitamin E - i.e., a method of vitamin E detection in irradiated low ppm vitamin E-blended UHWMPE. The decay behaviour of radicals as a function time suggests that the quantities of radicals end up about the same in air, whether or not they were irradiated in air or in nitrogen; at the end of the 90 days all the samples shows a similar structure of ESR spectra (not shown). While repetitions of the experiment would make the FT1R data more conclusive, it appears possible that the 1050 air-irradiated oxidized the most, with the vitamin E-containing samples experiencing less oxidation whether irradiated in air or nitrogen.
