HUVECs can survive exposure to the culture medium containing standard additives stimulating osteoblasts differentiation. HBDCs in co-culture with HUVECs do not gain terminal differentiation even in the osteogenic medium, while they overexpress the genes encoding the proteins involved in the the bone extracellular production.
