SN-38 loaded self-solidifying polymeric implants are developed for brain cancer treatment. The polymers consist of tricomponent copolymers of D,L-lactide (LA), E-caprolactone (CL) and poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) so-called PLEC. Different variables were studied including implant composition, SN-38 loading content, copolymer types and molecular weight in order to achieve the optimum implant format and SN-38 release profiles. SN-38 containing PLEC implants demonstrated significant antitumor activity against U87MG xenografts.
