Rg3-loaded PLLA fibrous mats were prepared by blend electrospinning. The solubility of Rg3 was increased for at least 5 fold by incorporation in electrospun fibers. The sustained release of Rg3 was achieved and the theraputic ability of this novel electrospun mat was proved in a rabbit model. Our findings suggest that the Rg3/PLLA electrosun fibers could inhibit fibroblast growth and hypertrophic scar formation, and have clinical application potentials for the management of human hypertrophic scars.
