The results presented indicate that apoAI, apoAII and HDL adsorb extensively from buffer and plasma to Tecothane. Given the well known beneficial effects of apoAI-HDL, via its anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antiviral properties, it is clear that the interactions of these species at the blood biomaterial interface warrant further investigation, in particular to determine whether their presence on biomaterial surfaces is also beneficial.
