The main sedimentation disposal methods are analyzed and classified into six types,that is preventing soit erosion to reduce sediment inflow to reservoir,increasing sedimentation storage capacity to extend the service life of reservoirs,empting reservoir periodically for sediment washing and capacity restoring,dredging reservoir sediment with machinery,lowering water level during the flood period to scour sediment and reduce sedimentation,and sluicing reservoir sediment by density current.Take Xiaolangdi Reservoir as an example,the sedimentation disposal methods of lowering water level to scour sediment,and sluicing reservoir sediment by density current are studied.It is proposed that the main issues needed to study in reservoir sedimentation disposal includes theory of sediment movement and conveyance in reservoir area,the combination of artificial sedimentation disposal and reservoir operation,and the monitoring and observing technology in reservoir.
