Ti(C,N)-β-Sialon composite was synthesized by carbothermal reduction nitridation (CRN)method in nitrogen atmosphere using rutile and fly ash as starting materials,coke as reducing agent.The effect of reaction temperature and carbon coke addition on the phase behavior of the samples was investigated by XRD,SEM and EDS,and was also studied.The results.showed that:the optimum parameters for synthesizing Ti(C,N)-β-Sialon composite through CRN process were carbon coke addition of excess 100 wt% of stoichiometric content,temperature of 1550 °C and holding for 4 h,and nitrogen pressure of 0.2 MPa.The produced Ti(C,N)-β-Sialon in this experiment consisted of interlaced elongate columnar structure with irregular agglomerates filling in the columnar crystals.Changes in experimental parameters including the reaction temperature and carbon coke addition affect the phase compositions and the morphology of the products.The increase of carbon coke addition can promote the formation of Sialon in the CRN process.
