THE ITALIAN ASSOCIATION OF FORENSIC ENGINEERING

A great interest in Forensic Engineering (FE) has been recognized in Italy and the rest of Continental Europe in the last decade. Amongst individual activities, such as short courses and lectures, the author is promoting FE by means of three primary activities: a post-graduate FE course at University of Naples Federico Ⅱ, Italy; IF CRASC congress series including topics of both FE and collapses, reliability and strengthening of structures; and the institution of the Italian Association of Forensic Engineering (AIF). In this paper, the author describes all these activities with special emphasis to AIF of which he is founder and president. The main scope of AIF is to disseminate FE throughout Italy. To this end, an accurate selection and classification of AIF members is carried out through documentation analysis and its quantification based on training credits, as in the case of university courses.
