HSR (High Speed Rail) can provide a convenient and safe transport method, so that it is widely used all around the world.What's more, there are some the benefits of HSR which are often mentioned, such as time efficiency, relieve congestion, limited land use, environmental friendly,offering job opportunities and change.Specifically, we illustrate the changes in the structure of nation,work and life, social ideology for the science and politics which are brought by the HSR in order to support the idea for the United States to finance such systems.As a totally new system in the US, the cost of HSR is of great importance, the cost characteristics have been discussed in many meetings,which consist of building cost and operation cost.The operation cost has five parts: maintenance of track, electrification, signalling, telecommunication and other cost.The last part is about HSR's potential customers and estimates the ridership on the basis of diligence report and HSR Authority program management team.From this essay, the conclusion is that HSR is expected to shrink the temporal distance between cities, reshape the travel patterns of people and that building HSR in the US is feasible both in technique and in economic.
