@@Ammonium polyphosphate (APP) can be used as the acid source and the blowing agent for the flame retardancy of many organic polymers.However, APP has a high polarity, and poor compatibility with polymers. Besides, APP tends to hydrolyze and migrate under a moist environment, which results in deterioration of flame retardancy. In the present work, a novel encapsulated APP with an inorganicorganic hybrid coating (MAPP) was prepared by a solgel method using tetraethoxysilane (TEOS) and octyltriethoxysilane (OTOS) as precursors. It was also characterized and applied in epoxy resins (EP).
