The luminescent characteristics in La_2O_2S:Bi,Eu phosphor thin films prepared by sulfurizing La_2O_3:Bi,Eu thin films were investigated. Relative to the original unsulfurized lanthanum oxide phosphor thin films, the resulting La_2O_2S:Bi,Eu thin films exhibited higher chemical stability, broadened photoluminescent (PL) excitation spectra with a red-shift and enhanced PL and electroluminescent (EL) intensities. In addition, the La_2O_2S,Eu thin films produced a high luminance in red EL emission.
