Deformation characteristics of core and rock-fill zones of Korean fill dam, expressed in terms of shear wave velocity, modulus rcduction(G/G_(max)) and damping curves, were investigated by performing field surface wave tests and by gathering relevant laboratory test results performed in Korea and abroad. The V_s profiles of core and rock-fill zones were measured at 8 Korean dams and additionally collected for core zone from the D/B of 22 dams. The average, upper and lower bounds of Vs profiles of core and rock-fill zones were suggested. The test D/B of G/G_(max)and damping curves of 48 specimens which satisfy the Korean specifications of core material were collected and the representative G/G_(max)and damping curves were suggested at 3 confining pressure ranges. The test D/B of G/G_(max) and damping curves of rock-fill materials were collected from 18 literatures and the representative G/G_(max) and damping curves were suggested considering confining pressures.
